Capture (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a territory-claiming mobile game where users run or walk outdoors and their GPS routes are converted into claimed territory on a map. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in with Google or Apple, we collect:

• Email address — to create and identify your account
• Display name — shown to other players on the leaderboard and map
• Profile photo — from your Google account if applicable

Location Data

• Precise GPS location — collected during active capture sessions to track your route and create territory polygons
• Location data is only collected while you are actively using the app and have granted location permission
• We do not track your location in the background

Gameplay Data

• Territory polygons — the GPS coordinates of your claimed territories
• Activity stats — distance, duration, and pace of your capture sessions

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide core gameplay functionality (territory claiming, leaderboard, map display)
• Display your profile and stats to other players
• Sync your game data across devices
• Improve the app experience

We do not:

• Sell your personal data to third parties
• Use your data for advertising
• Track your location when you are not actively using the app

Data Storage and Security

• Your data is stored on Supabase servers and transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
• Authentication is handled securely through Google OAuth or Apple Sign-In
• We implement row-level security on our database to ensure users can only modify their own data

Data Retention and Deletion

• Your data is retained as long as you have an active account
• You can delete your account directly from the app via Profile → Delete Account
• Upon account deletion, your profile, territories, trails, friends, events, and activity data will be permanently removed

Children's Privacy

Capture is not intended for children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
